PHONIC RULES IN EACH BOOK
Make learning to read fun with the Mogs.
These 12 colourful and joyful little books are created for dyslexic and neurodivergent children to significantly improve their reading experience, build their confidence, and foster a love for reading, ultimately supporting their overall literacy development and academic success.
They are fulfilling the need for a vital resource for teachers and parents to help children with learning problems at school or at home.
The central theme of the books revolves around lovable creatures called Mogs (Marvelous Outer Galaxy Species) whose names are easy to read and follow the phonetic patterns being taught, a challenge that could not be met with traditional names.
With rich illustrations and strictly edited phonetic text, each book in the series focuses on a single, key phonics pattern (highlighted in red) reinforced with the simple, memorable rhymes and the books are purposely short to give the young reader a real sense of accomplishment on completion.
Teachers and parents can use the stories in multiple ways to enhance reading, spelling and language development. Almost entirely decodable, the series introduces phonic concepts in a structured and systematic manner. The Mog books will complement any Structured Synthetics Phonics Program.
The vocabulary used throughout the series develops sequentially as the children learn to work with more complex reading and spelling patterns.
Each book revises the characters, places and items from the previous story, building familiarity and confidence with reading vocabulary.
The accessibility of the text is enhanced through the choice of font size and style, and the use of colour to emphasise the focus phonic pattern. This attention to detail is key when seeking to engage all learners. Rhythmic ‘word tunes’ are a multisensory way of reinforcing phonological skills.
The stunning illustrations bring the text to life and capture the imagination of readers young and old! The oral language and writing potential stemming from the illustrations is limitless.
